On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, took place the closing event for the exhibition “Hellenism of Asia Minor: Images and Memories”, as part of the Athens College tribute to the 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe.

Vice Chairman of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation Board of Directors Mr. A. Phylactopoulos welcomed all guests and spoke of the exhibition as one of the most important cultural events organized at our School, while thanking all members of the College community who entrusted their precious family heirlooms for the creation of the exhibition.

The exhibition was organized by the Athens College President’s Office, the Athens College and Psychico College Junior High Schools, and the College Library, in collaboration with the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy. Alumnus Ms. Anna Enepekidou ’92, the Foundation’s Director and exhibition curator, gave the rationale of this exhibition.

The following presentations were made:

-Excerpts from Elli Papadimitriou’s theatrical play “Koinos Logos”, by the Athens College High School Drama Club, directed by Aggeliki Gkirgkinoudi

-The Proceedings of the Conference "Asia Minor Hellenism: aspects of its contribution to the development of Greek society", which was held at the College Library on 4 June 2022,

• E. Garantoudis, Professor of Modern Greek Literature, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

-Presentation of Maria Veinoglou’s book “Fruits on Paper”

-Traditional dances from Cappadocia by members of the dancing group of the Association “Nea Sinasos”, led by the President of the Association Ms. Vasso Papadopoulou.

With this event, the Athens College tribute to Hellenism of Asia Minor was concluded.
