The "The precious history of the olive tree" educational program was held at our School in collaboration with OpenFarm. Grade 4 students had the opportunity to recall what they have learned about the place of the olive in Greek mythology and Greek agricultural production, as well as to deepen their knowledge about its cultivation and nutritional value. But they didn't stop there! Taking advantage of the olive trees in our courtyard, we gave our children the opportunity to become olive growers for a while and experience both the harvesting of the olive and the production of olive oil. After learning, seeing, and coming into contact with the different varieties of olives they might encounter, children also learned the secrets of preserving and storing olives and made their own jar of edible olives.
