Athens College Elementary builds a school in Ghana!
Ghana 2024 - SDG 4 Quality Education
Let's build a school!
Students of the Environment and Gardening Club of Athens College Elementary School met on Monday, February 19, 2024 with volunteer Stephanie Grigoriou, who is already in Ghana and is supervising the beginning of the construction of the school that the students envisioned in the framework of this year's activities of the Club. Moments of joy and excitement were experienced by students and teachers as they talked with the school children and their teacher and learned about the way of life in Keyreben 2 village. Of the approximately 250 children in the village, only 120 attend the school because there are not enough classrooms for everyone. Students of the Club promised that with the help of the whole school community, they would raise the sum of 6,000 euros to build three additional classrooms and a teacher's office. This will ensure that all the children in the village can attend school.
