Our Mini Model United Nations Project in Full Swing at Athens College Elementary School!
Since its launch in October, our Mini Model United Nations (Mini MUN) project, spearheaded by the English Department and led by the dynamic Fulbright Fellow, Theodora Walton, has been buzzing with energy and enthusiasm! Our Grade 6 students have been delving deep into the world of international affairs, exploring global issues, and sharpening their diplomatic skills—all while conducting discussions in English, the language of diplomacy.
Recently, our students had the incredible opportunity to interact with none other than Dr. Pollalis, our esteemed school President, who graciously shared valuable insights into the workings of the UN. Having volunteered there in the past as part of a group of experts working on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr. Pollalis was able to provide our students with a firsthand look at global diplomacy in action. During this interactive event, the highlight was the engaging Q&A session, where our students had the chance to ask Dr. Pollalis a variety of thought-provoking questions. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made for an enriching exchange of ideas, further inspiring them on their journey toward becoming active global citizens.
As our Mini MUN project continues to foster curiosity, collaboration, and global awareness, we look forward to the many more exciting opportunities and experiences that lie ahead!
