Lecture by historian Lydia Tricha
On Monday, March 4, 2024, a lecture titled "Travelling with a Biography in the 19th Century" by lawyer and historian Lydia Tricha was given in the main hall of the CAPPS building. It was the first of a series of lectures of the "Open Meetings: Presenting My Work" series organized by the Athens College Adult Programs. Ms. Tricha shared with over 120 attendees her personal career as a biographer of Charilaos Trikoupis and Spyridon Trikoupis (Polis Books), for which she has won awards, as well as her forthcoming biography of Alexandros Mavrokordatos (Patakis Publishers).
Through the presentation it was highlighted that the threads that unite the biographer's research are perseverance when facing obstacles, humor in dealing with various unforeseen situations, the virtue of honesty and a balanced emotional identification with the biographee. At the end of the lecture, a discussion was opened to the audience and when asked if she could bring back to life one of her three subjects, Ms. Tricha answered Alexandros Mavrokordatos.
