The "Museums of Europe" Club visits Florence
In the framework of the Psychico College High School Museums of Europe Club, we conducted a study trip to Florence, Siena, and Milan, Italy on April 22-26, 2024. Having familiarized ourselves with topics that we worked on at a theoretical level throughout the school year, we were given the opportunity to visit the beautiful cities of Italy and gain unique experiences.
Our tour of these places helped us to better understand what we had read and to gain a lot of information about the history of these regions. We visited several museums, such as the Medici Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti and the Galleria degli Uffizi, which exhibits works spanning the period from the 13th to the 18th century and makes up one of the most important collections of Renaissance art. In all the museums we visited we had the opportunity to observe and admire original works by renowned artists such as Giotto, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Sandro Botticelli, Andrea Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, Michelangelo, Caravaggio. Beyond the museums, of course, the walks through the picturesque towns of Siena and San Gimignano were particularly interesting.
We also visited the Adelphotheos Church of Florence and met with the Archimandrite and Archpriest Commissioner of Tuscany and Liguria, Father Nikolaos Papadopoulos.
Finally, we did not miss the chance to visit the Duomo Cathedral in Milan and tour the city.
It was truly a unique educational trip!
