Teacher training by the Boston Museum of Science

Sep 26, 2024

In the context of the continuous training of our School teachers in STEAM - Engineering Design Process, at the beginning of this school year, "John M. Carras" Kindergarten and Athens College and Psychico College Elementary School teachers participated in an experiential training seminar with Ms. Shannon McManus, Director of Professional Learning (PreK-12 Engineering Education) of the Boston Museum of Science.

Our Kindergarten and Elementary Schools implement the innovative and pioneering Engineering Design Process educational program of the Boston Museum of Science in combination with the PYP (Primary Years Programme) of the International Baccalaureate (IB). The common philosophy underlying both programs is based on the principles of the research process, the collaborative group method, and the experiential acquisition of knowledge.

All our participating teachers reinforced their knowledge and cultivated the necessary skills, which they will adapt to their students in order to inspire them to think creatively and solve everyday problems in a collaborative context.

These seminars strengthened the collaboration and the connection between our Kindergarten and Elementary schools. They are an organized effort to shape the personalities of our students to develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for their lives. Our goal is for the new generation of students to be able to solve everyday problems and develop 21st century skills to meet the complex challenges of the future.
