John M. Carras Kindergarten Athens College has been collaborating with the Boston Museum of Science and applying a very innovative educational program entitled “Engineering Design Process” which cultivates a generation of problem solvers. The program enables students to meet challenges, deal with every day problems in a highly supportive and interactive environment where everyone’s viewpoint is conducive to knowledge. The Primary Years Program (International Baccalaureate) along with the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) inculcate 21st century skills such as critical and computational thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, flexibility and perseverance. Students are encouraged to think creatively, explore their interests, and collaborate with peers through hands-on learning and transdisciplinary opportunities. Our institution’s main goal is to foster a desire for lifelong learning for both students and teachers.
