On the occasion of the International Childhood Cancer Day, which is celebrated on February 15, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, an information and awareness event on the issue of bone marrow donation was held by representatives of the Choose Life Foundation at the College Theater. The event was attended by Junior High and High School students and members of the College's administrative and teaching staff.

The value of bone marrow donation was discussed by the founder of the Foundation, Mari Eugenidou-Loi, noting that since 2016 to date 13,000 volunteer bone marrow donors have been registered with the Choose Life database.  This was followed by a speech by Mr. Alexandros Spyridonidis, Professor of Hematology at the University of Patras and Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the University Hospital of Patras and Head of the Medical Committee of the Foundation. Mr. Spyridonidis explained the process by which one can become a donor and give life to fellow human beings suffering from blood diseases and took questions from the audience.

After the speeches, employees and students of the College had the opportunity to register as potential donors with Choose Life.

The event was organized by the Athens College Human Resources Department to raise awareness and mobilize the College community on this important issue.
