Korean Ambassador, Mr. Ju-seong Lim, visited Psychico College Elementary School on Tuesday, March 4. The Ambassador was greeted by Athens College Director/President, Professor Spyros N. Pollalis, Psychico College Elementary School Director, Ms. Dimitra Panagouli, and Head of English Department, Ms. Natalia Kantzia. The visit was conducted after an invitation by English teacher Ms. Mary Eythymiou, in the context of the book A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park being taught to ENL 6 students. Korean artist Ji Hyun Song, along with a delegation from the Korean Embassy, also visited the school and created hanji paper crafts with the students, offering them a more immersive experience. Having studied about pottery and art in 12th century Korea, our students had the opportunity to directly connect to the country's cultural heritage. The assistance of Ms. Elena Marinopoulou, the Arts Department, and in particular Ms. Eleni Damopoulou, Ms. Niki Bisylla, and Ms. Vasiliki Koukou, was invaluable. The students enjoyed this original event and look forward to exploring other new aspects of Korean culture!
