Psychico College Elementary School: Connecting with the Heroic Epic of 1821 - Exhibition of historical objects from the Greek Revolution of 1821

Mar 21, 2025
This exhibition, taking place at the patio of Psychico College Elementary School (Latseio Building), is a unique opportunity for students and visiting parents to come in direct contact with authentic historical objects from the Greek Revolution of 1821. Through the presentation of rare documents, lithographs, portraits of Revolution commanders, weapons, objects of the era, and historic flags once held by leaders, visitors gain a deeper connection to our country's heroic past.

More than just a display of objects, this exhibition offers a vivid journey into historical memory. Through connecting the past with the present, it enables students to deeply understand the struggles of our ancestors, who fought against the Ottoman Empire, even sacrificing their lives for the ideal of freedom.

The precious objects of the exhibition come from the personal collection of former Minister and War Museum President Anastasios Liaskos (parent of a student). He has donated these objects for display, aiming to help in the preservation of historical memory and the spread of our cultural heritage, highlighting Hellenic principles and ideals in their real dimension.

The exhibition, along with the full tour that took place for all students and teachers, both by Mr. Liaskos himself and by philologist Pinelopi Karydi, offers a complete experience, designed to both educate students and keep the spirit of patriotism alive. In addition, it expresses our respect and gratitude for the invaluable sacrifices of previous generations who fought for Greece to be free.

As part of the exhibition, Thodoris Kosmas, Giorgos Apostolopoulos, and Nikolaos Bimpas will participate in a special school theatrical re-enactment, through live re-enaction of historical moments of the Greek Revolution, thus giving students the opportunity to experience the events of the time in a more direct and lively manner.
