Athens College Junior High School - Youth Training at the United Nations in Geneva
Visiting Geneva and the United Nations, as part of the Youth Training at the United Nations program was an unforgettable experience, offering invaluable knowledge, and a unique opportunity for personal growth and empowerment. During our stay, we participated in interactive sessions in an educational setting, where representatives from various UN organizations introduced us to their operations and missions. In addition to the sessions, we also visited these organizations, where we received guided tours and learned about their work and impact.
Beyond these visits, we focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), analyzing related policies and strategies. We created presentations on various issues, deepening our understanding of international cooperation. One of the most interesting moments was a role-playing activity, where we acted as representatives from different countries, delivering speeches on climate change and presenting our assigned nations' positions.
Finally, we visited the UN Office in Geneva, where we explored the organization's halls and facilities and enjoyed excellent food, both delicious and affordable. This experience helped me profoundly appreciate the importance of international collaboration and development for tackling global challenges. If you ever have the chance to participate in a Club like this, seize the opportunity. It is an experience worth living that will definitely broaden your perspective.
