Elias Mamalakis makes olive tapenade with Athens College Junior High students
The tradition of the Athens College Junior High School Club “Living in the Land of the Olive Tree” carried on successfully its tradition of picking olives from the olive trees on the Phychico Campus for another year.
The
olive harvest happened during the autumn, by Grade γ5
students, supported by their teacher Nikoletta-Anna Kyragianni. The olives where
then cleaned, preparing them for the production of olive tapenade.
On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in an initiative of the Grade γ5
students, chef Elias Mamalakis was invited to our School. He spoke to the
students about the importance of olives and olive oil in the Mediterranean
diet, and guided the students through the production of five different flavors
of tapenade.
The students will continue this process, and their produce will be used in a range of the School’s activities and events.
