Psychico College Junior High School students' visit to the CERN research center

Apr 29, 2024
As part of the activities of the "Contemporary Physics" group of Psychico College Junior High School, students visited the CERN research center in Geneva, on April 10 to 13, 2024. Under the guidance of a researcher, they toured the site of the first accelerator, were informed about the experiments that are taking place in the facility (LHC, CMS, ATLAS, ALICE) and attended a presentation on particle detection. They then visited the interactive exhibition 'Science Gateway' and talked to experts. Finally, they were informed about the connection between the work of the research center and modern technological achievements in various fields such as medicine, IT, and technology.

The students also visited the Einstein Museum in the city of Bern and through the exhibits they approached the work and life of the scientist, as well as the cultural and historical events of the period in which he lived, gaining a deeper understanding of both his theories and the way in which scientific thinking evolves. In addition, the students visited the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, watched screenings and toured the interactive exhibits, appreciating the impact that another form of transnational cultural cooperation can have.
