Performance by the Theater Club of Cerebral Palsy Greece/Open Door for Junior High School 3 students

Mar 5, 2025
On Thursday, February 27, 2025, Junior High School 3 students of Athens College and Psychico College watched the musical performance/film "Persephone, goddess of the seasons", presented by the Theater Club of Cerebral Palsy Greece/Open Door, at the Athens College Theater in Psychico.

The performance was enriched by a film narrating the myth of Persephone. The film resulted from the collaboration of ten organizations for people with disabilities, from five European countries: Greece, Ireland, Hungary, Sweden, and Spain. Each organization selected and filmed a scene from the myth, and a single film was created by compiling all of the material.

The Theater Club of Cerebral Palsy Greece/Open Door was established in 1986, and consists of adults, children, stuff, and volunteers, counting more than thirty members. They act, dance, sing, work in a dedicated and cooperative manner, presenting a wonderful performance with many messages to the audience.

The performance was given in a joyful atmosphere, conveying the message that nothing connects people more than art. Our students watched the performance with great interest, applauded with enthusiasm and gladly responded to the actors' invitation to dance with them at the end of the performance.

Athens College Junior High School Director, Ms. Vasiliki Tla, delivered a welcoming speech. The performance was introduced by Honorary President of Cerebral Palsy Greece, Ms. Daphne Economou, while Psychico College Junior High School Director, Ms. Nikoleta Kanelli, made some closing remarks.

The event was organized by the Athens College Department of Social Welfare and Diversity.
