Your support makes a difference in the lives of our students
The College’s Financial Aid Program is supported by the Annual Fund. Annual giving has been especially important during these years of economic recession and is increasingly important during times of uncertainty, like the current, enabling the College to guarantee financial aid for students who qualify.
Although demand for an Athens College education remains high, many of our families face financial challenges during their children’s years at the School. Applications for financial aid have more than doubled since the start of Greece’s economic recession approximately ten years ago.
Your support ensures that no student misses out on the College groundbreaking education and unique life experience for financial reasons.
Currently, financial aid for needy students represents 6% of our revenue, with 29% secured from the collective efforts and gifts of the greater College community. Creating a substantial surplus is a strategic priority that will allow us to sustainably strengthen our financial aid in the future, funded through private support, the endowment and the annual operating budget.
Your contribution is crucial. Special naming opportunities are available to honor an individual or your family, memorialize loved ones or carry the name of a foundation or company.
Naming opportunities are available for full annual Financial Aid scholarships: €13.500
Figures include tuition and bus transportation.
Gift payment options include:
- Expendable restricted gift paid outright or pledged to be paid through an annual gift. Annual contributions should be made by May of each year – prior to student’s enrolment.
- Endowed restricted gift to cover a 6-year or 3-year scholarship in perpetuity, paid outright or pledged to be paid over a period of up to 3 years from the date of the agreement. In either case, part of the payment will be made with the approval of the grant. The fund will be activated when the gifted amounts are equal to or greater than 50% of the full endowed fund. To learn more, you may contact the Development Office at +30 210698217 or email [email protected].
Gifts of any size in support of the Financial Aid Program are welcome. These gifts are added to the Financial Aid Fund to cover additional expenses for our scholars and may add up to fund a full 3-year or 6-year scholarship.
Scholar voices
"Challenges such as the current pandemic demonstrate how we are all affected by what is happening around us and how important it is to act together. Giving and solidarity are the foundations and the power of Athens College. Supporting students who do not have the financial means but have the audacity to change the world is the most powerful gift. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this School and for opening up paths that can make our dreams come true."
