The 42^nd in-house Athens College – Psychico College Junior High and High School swim meets, known as “GAVRIILEIA” in memory of John A. Gabriel, were held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the “Alexandra Prokopiou” Swimming Center and “John A. Gabriel” Swimming Pool. Professor Spyro N. Pollalis, President of Athens College – Psychico College, declared the games open.

Members of the HAEF Somateio (Association), the Schools’ Administrators, members of the Athletic Advisory Committee and parents were in attendance.

Based on international scoring standards, 10^th grader Eleni-Maria Stefanou, with a performance of 01’02”37 in the 100m freestyle, and 11^th grader Eleftherios Manios, with a performance of 53”59 in the 100m freestyle, were named the games’ best female and male athletes respectively.

New Gavriileia records were set in the following events:

• 50m Freestyle, Georgios Dimitratos, 10^th grade, 24”48
• 100m Freestyle, Eleftherios Manios, 11^th grade, 53”59, which is also a new College record
• 100m Freestyle, Eleni-Maria Stefanou, 10^th grade, 1’02”37
• 50m Breastroke, Konstantina Atzina, 9^th grade, 35”83

• 50m Butterfly, Christina Daskalaki, 9^th grade, 29”97
• 50m Backstroke, Anastasia Efraimoglou, 9^th grade,33”23
• 4x50m Freestyle Relay, 9^th grade students Maria Marouda, Konstantina Atzina, Christina Daskalaki and Ioulia-Ana Kontoni, 1’57”41, which is also a new College record   

With a Cumulative Score of 47,5 points, High School 10^th grade took 1^st place.

Once the games were over, official timing took place during which the following College records were set:  in the 100m Breaststroke by Konstantina Atzina (1’19”01), in the 100m Backstroke by Iasona-Panteleimona Santixis (1’03”40) and in the 400m Freestyle by Eleftherios Manios (4’15”11).
