44th Gavriileia 2018
The 44th in-house Athens College – Psychico College Junior High and High School swim meets, known as “GAVRIILEIA” in memory of John A. Gabriel, were held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the “Alexandra Prokopiou” Swimming Center and “John A. Gabriel” Swimming Pool. Mrs.Titina Daskalaki – Vasileiou, member of the HAEF Board of Directors, declared the games open.
The Schools’ Administrators, members of the Athletic Advisory Committee and parents were in attendance.
Based on international scoring standards, 12th grader Eleni-Maria Stefanou, with a performance of 01’01”49 in the 100m freestyle, and 12th grader Georgios Dimitratos, with a performance of 24”19 in the 50m freestyle, were named the games’ best female and male athletes respectively.
New Gavriileia records were set in the following events:
- 50m Backstroke, Christina Daskalaki, 11th grade, 32”35, which is also a new College record.
- 100m Freestyle, Eleni-Maria Stefanou, 12th grade, 1’01”49.
With a Cumulative Score of 74 points, Junior High School 9th grade took 1st place.
Once the games were over, official timing took place during which the following College records were set:
- 200m Breaststroke, Olga Kotzamani, 9th grade, 2’56”80.
- 100m Breaststroke, Maria Kefalogianni, 8th grade, 1’18”11.
